10 years ago I came upon this “fork in the road”

Redirected, Not Retired
Life gives us two paths: the easy one, and the one that demands more. I’ve chosen the harder trail—roots, rocks, and all.

I’m not retired. I’m redirected—into new ventures, new projects, and new ways of creating value.

Welcome to my path.

The Path I Chose

That fork in the trail on my morning ruck walks isn’t just a landmark. It’s a reminder.

For years, I walked the smoother side—the predictable route, safe and familiar. But life has a way of telling us when it’s time to step off the easy path. Ten years ago, I knew I needed to change direction.

I’m not retired. I’m redirected.

Redirected into new ventures that challenge me, projects that excite me, and work that still creates real value. From building businesses and designing solutions, to exploring philosophy, to telling personal stories and creating something new every day—this is the work that keeps me moving forward.

This site is where I share that journey. You’ll find pieces of my past career, insights into my current projects, and glimpses of what lies ahead.

The path I’ve chosen may not be the smooth one—but it’s the one that leads to growth, meaning, and discovery.

What You’ll Find Here

WORK – Lessons from building, managing, and creating.
IDEAS – Exploring philosophy, science, and rational thinking.
STORIES – Personal history, turning points, and legacy.
CREATIVE – New ventures, projects, and ongoing work.

Work
My career has been shaped by building and managing complex projects — from commercial real estate to digital ventures. Along the way, I’ve learned lessons about leadership, problem-solving, and creating systems that last. Here I share those stories and experiences, not just as a record of what I’ve done, but as practical insights for anyone navigating their own work.

Ideas
I’ve always been drawn to philosophy, science, and the question of what separates rational thinking from illusion. The Rationality Demarcation Table project is at the heart of this pursuit — a framework for understanding how we can test ideas, challenge assumptions, and separate sense from nonsense. You’ll find reflections, notes, and ongoing work from this lifelong study.

Stories
Life is more than business or ideas — it’s the people, places, and turning points that define us. I share personal history here: from family legacy to the moments that changed my direction. These stories are not just memories, but reminders of what it means to choose a meaningful path forward.

Creative
Even now, I’m not standing still. I continue to design, build, and create — from branding and web projects to new initiatives like Fairbank Promotions, 2ndNature Studio AI, and beyond. This site is where I document the creative work that keeps me moving forward, proving every day that I am not retired — I am redirected.

I always brought Tusk, my Boxer pup, almost everywhere I went. After 10 years of friendship, he had to be euthanized due to Degenerative Myelopathy, a disease affecting the spinal cord, resulting in slowly progressive hind limb weakness and paralysis.

In 2016 I hiked up Snowy Mt., NY, with my son Josh (right), and my youngest son, Joel, along with my boxer pup, Tusk. A LOT tougher hike than we anticipated…but we made it to the top!
